How to stay up to date with industry news/deals in Commercial Real Estate?
Had some coffee chats recently. Was sort of surprised by technicals/asking me about news. Was asked about if i knew how to do a rent roll/knew what was going on in the industry.
Went into the coffee chats assuming we would talk more about fit and stick to a more informational chat which it did however I felt somewhat embarrassed.
So which news sources does everyone follow for Commercial Real Estate news/activity? Also specifically looking for news sources in Canada since I'm in Canadian
Will follow up in thread for canadian news sources. Can't speak to it unfortunately. In the underwear section of Canada though I typically scan the bisnow, CMBS research, Trepp, MHN Daily Newsletter, Globe st.
Thanks! it's a start

I don't think they even know what they made. The whole housing market is propped up on these bad loans. It's a time bomb, and I want to short it. Through what instrument, Michael? There are no insurance contracts or options for mortgage bonds! The bonds are too stable. No one would buy them. I'm going to get a bank to make me one. Then I'm going to buy a ton of them.
US: Bisnow, Trepp, The Real Deal, ReAlert (not free), Commercial Observer, brokers' newsletters, and Bloomberg Terminal (not free and mostly securitized stuff).
For Canada: Renx, Bisnow (mostly Toronto), national brokers should have daily/weekly/monthly newsletter so just shoot whoever you can find on their website a message and ask to be added to the distribution list, and Globe and Mail.
Thanks boss! Should I subscribe to company based newsletters ones? ie CBRE, Colliers...etc (not even sure if they have them but was mostly going to list canadian company newsletters)
EDIT: just reread your reply. i'll take a look at the broker newsletters
