Hunt Companies, Inc.

I couldn't find much on them looking through the forums. Anyone ever have experience with this firm as either an employee or a counterparty on a transaction? They are based out of El Paso and seem to do a lot of work in the development of military/muni/affordable housing. Anyone know anything about their mortgage banking subsidiary, Hunt Mortgage Group? Reputation in CRE, etc? Any thoughts appreciated.

I just interviewed with their mortgage banking subsidiary, Hunt Mortgage Group out of Southern California. They focus on financing for multifamily properties. They underwrite the loans and sell the loans to freddie and fannie.

I interviewed with senior management here some time ago. Since then there's been some shakeup at that level.

Impression I got, was that these guys are hard workers, very sell-side culture...Type A personalities. Their reputation in CRE is good, frankly ^ told you everything you need to know. They specialize in originating and underwriting multifamily loans, most of which are securitized in agency CMBS, although they are beginning to wet their toes in private label execution.
