I Blew It.. but all is not lost!

I'm a PA native looking for a RE job in NY, and I've been scoring interviews left and right. It's been challenging, but one unique boutique developer I was sincerely attracted to had 2 phone interviews, an exam, and THREE (3!!!!!) in person interviews for an Analyst position. A little overkill, but it's a family business and I respected their commitment to finding a good fit.
I crushed interviews 1-4, the exam, and was feeling confident about #5 -- with the Owner.

And I frickin blew it.

Using a friend's own horror story, I had heard about candidates not even being considered if they didn't have a NY address. I'm not a student, or under a headhunter's wing, and I know I'm not coming up on anyone's radar.
So, I picked an address and used it on my resume. A little deceiving? Perhaps. My moral fiber was fine with it. But I did it in the middle of the night, and didn't check what address I chose.

Where I blew it is obvious. Owner took a look at my resume, after I had gracefully walked him through my resume, proved my experience and value, and created a very good rapport though I was honestly shaking in my shoes. He noticed my address didn't notate East or West. Not being a well traveled New Yorker, I was caught and I knew it.
In the moment, I let my anxiety guess West. The look on the Owner's face will forever stay with me. He responded "Oh. Alright". We ended the interview, and I had another test to take.
Once I was at a computer, I googled the address using the "West" address I'd given. Apartments go for $3mm+, over what I could afford if I even wanted to live there. Blown. Up.

What you think of me for doing this isn't really what I care about. I know if I was asked under less stressful circumstances, I'd admit to what I had done and explain why. I know this is literally their job - to know the NY market, and I crashed my own reputation with these people despite my background and skillset.
On the upside, I have another final round of interviews tomorrow and if it comes up - I can be sincere and see what happens.

TL;DR: you get what you deserve. don't expect anything different.

you could have bs'd your way out of this very easily. "I'm crashing on a friends couch until I find a job" or "I'm staying with my rich uncle on the upper west side till I land on my feet" etc.
