I listened to your advice - now I’m applying!

Thank you WSO for your wonderful feedback so far. I want to prove how appreciative I am by putting action behind your words.

I’m now applying to CBRE for a sales/brokerage internship (slot opened yesterday) in order to learn some hard skills there (hoping they’ll use me as an analyst in some form.)

Is this approach correct or will they just sit me down with cold calls for the summer?

What’s the difference between intern and associate intern? They look the same to me.

Finally, would I have a chance at applying to analyst-intern positions? I have strong math but no finance background. I’m going to swing to the resume side of WSO, though it looks a little dead.

Thank you all again! I really appreciate you all taking the time out to share your experience with me.

I don't think you'll be cold calling right away as you don't have a real estate license. You'll probably be placed on a research team.

Make sure to call up the managing director of the office and leave a voicemail after you've applied. Something along the lines of "Hey my name is XXX, I just applied to position XXX, I would love to speak to you personally as well about my qualifications and what I can bring to CBRE, call me back at XXX-XXX-XXXX when you have a spare 5 minutes"

This is great advice.
