Interested in Real Estate Development. Looking for Advice.

Hi,

I'm interested in real estate development and am currently in college. I'm not in a real estate or finance related major (IT). My question is are there books I can read to learn finance since I'm not in any related classes, also is there a guide to what I should know for development. Are there any real estate books I could read that would help me learn more. Let me know if there are any books to get in order to learn more about real estate or finance.

I’d also suggest reading some biographies/ autobiographies of some of the best developers in American history. Look up: Gerald Hines, Trammell Crow, and William Zeckendorf.

YouTube is also incredibly underrated. Spencer Burton on YouTube has some great videos on how to model development in excel. Read The Real Deal, Curbed, and Commercial Property Exectuive news sources.

You’re welcome. I’m about to finish up my UG and have been very lucky with more senior people in development helping me out (cold emailing and getting a lunch/ coffee meeting cannot be overrated). If you need any other books, feel free to PM me.

That's an awesome book as well! Can easily read in 1-2 sittings and its extremely informative.
