Is This Toxic Culture or Just Asleep at the Wheel?

Hey guys, not sure if this is toxic culture or just disorganization. Firm is very bad at looping in junior people and letting them know what's going on. For example we had spring interns and they were told last minute they weren't going to get extended through summer all because the senior people were all over the place on it.

They're very disorganized in that sense and a lot of the junior people are new (hired within 2 years), but the administrative staff are very accommodating and if you need anything they'll help you immediately. Not sure if this is a good culture as people are nice, hours are good, people are not demanding and are accommodating / provide some perks but also are very bad at informing the junior level. They seem to take the time to explain things as well so maybe just asleep at the wheel on the leadership side?

I've worked for a lot worse firms that yelled at you, threw you under the bus, provided no perks/snacks, and the office situation was shit so this is a complete upgrade.

I don't think you understand what the word "toxic" means.  Your only complaint seems to be that interns weren't given much notice that they wouldn't be extended.  What does "last minute" mean?  Literally at 4:59 on a Friday?  A week before?  Was it understood that interns would be extended unless otherwise informed?

So far you've give one example of a minor inconvenience caused by bad communication, set against good hours, reasonable work expectations, helpful admin staff, and nice colleagues.

The world does not exist for your convenience or comfort, and your expectation that the entire company drop everything every time you have a question (the obvious subtext of this complaint) is the only even remotely unreasonable thing I see in this post.  You work in a healthy and accommodating environment, not a "toxic" one.  It doesn't even sound like anyone is "asleep at the wheel" on the leadership side.  What it sounds like is that you feel as though the business should be run to make your life as pleasant and easy as possible, and you're confusing the fact that they're not ignoring their jobs to help you for "toxicity"

No snacks = toxic culture. I'm on board with that.
