Job Searching Online

Hey chimps- Looking for a new position and have been trying to find potential opportunities on many sites. I am looking to relocated to NYC and have found that the only real positions that are worthwhile get posted on select leaders. I have noticed that when I search on LinkedIn, Indeed, or Zip-recruiter its very hard to find anything for "Acquisition Analyst" positions or anything for that matter besides brokerage positions. Does anyone have any ideas on this topic? I am researching daily to try and get my foot in the door to any posted job first..

Thanks

In my experience, simply applying online doesn't really get you anywhere. I would research firms/companies in NYC that focus on the industry or type of work you are looking for and start trying to cold email/cold call people looking for advice/insight and hopefully end up being introduced to people that they think will be beneficial for you to speak with.

I transitioned from Big 4 Audit 8 months ago and spent about 3.5 months networking and met with around 35 people during that time. The majority of people I spoke with had other people in mind that they wanted to introduce me to otherwise I would just end the conversation by asking them if they knew anyone that worked in X, Y or Z. Additionally, I would try to reach out to people in your current network to see if they know anyone. Pretty much everyone I was initially introduced to was through an attorney that has nothing to do with real estate.

Just focus on meeting new people and making a good impression when you do. The job will eventually come and the people you meet along the way will be extremely beneficial in both the short and long-term.

Best of luck!
