Just do not understand and want to share my sad story

Hi guys I recently applied for the summer analyst position in one RE fund and I received the interview invitation email on Monday I mean this Monday I replied with my available time and no update since then but the first round interview should be finished within this week well right now I am really upset and start to think is it possible that in the very beginning HR contacted me by mistake? is it possible that HR went through my resume then shortlisted me but before the interview business team said absolutely no? it is not the first time this thing happens to me in 2018 the same fund, different office, I also received an interview invitation email from HR and after I provide the available time, no update since then, no update here i mean nothing, really nothing well I just do not understand

Sounds like there could be a flaw in their automated HR system? (Especially since it happened before.)

Pick up the phone and call them to find out. I hate phone calls just as much as every other millennial, but calling them and saying "Hey, I received this email to schedule an interview and never heard back with a confirmation" isn't going to ruffle any feathers.

Okay, so a take from an employer move...

You are correct in assuming that HR and the business unit may not be in sync, that is super common. However, I highly doubt HR reached out by mistake or you were later removed from the pool. If you passed the screen and got selected, that was likely legit.

What is more likely is that the business unit is non-responsive or flaky to HR. So you have your availability, but they may not have given theirs. Hiring managers get busy, and this is a weird time all around. My gut says it's just internal confusion. This is really common, has nothing to do with you.

I would call, email, and do all the follow up you can. Persistence in the face of no response could actually earn you points. It shows your dedication and interest, it really cannot harm you if you do correctly. By that, be positive and open, never share any negativity that you may legitimately be feeling.

Good luck!
