You gotta get your hands on the Mortgage Bankers Association annual originations ranking list. It is what everyone in the industry goes off. They provide a break-out of lifecos as well as overall rankings versus all industry peers, and by asset type.

As of the past two years, MetLife has been leading the pack around ~$15b annually with PGIM slightly behind in second. Other lifecos such as Allstate, NYLife, and Northwestern Mutual are pretty minor players. Most of these companies will put out a press release highlighting their annual volume so without that report, that would be the most reliable plan B to pursue.
