LIHTC tax credit underwriting

Hi. Is anyone familiar with CRE tax credit groups (DUS lenders)? I am currently working for one of the big banks as a credit analyst in business banking which is fine but I'm looking for bigger deals to work on. I have an interview with the real estate group of one of the big DUS lenders for an underwriting position in their tax credit group. My understanding is that the deals are bigger and the pay is much better in specialized lending but a friend of mine who is an investment banker is trying to warn me off the tax credit LOBs; says those deals are a pain in the *ss having to deal with GSEs and the state LIHTC authorities. Any thoughts?
