Looking for some guidance

Hi All,

I have been lurking this website for the last week and decided it is time to make a post. I am interested in pivoting towards a career working in real estate investments/development, although I do not know where I would fit in best or how to enter this industry.

A little background about myself: Located in Toronto, Canada. Graduated 2019 Commerce program, Non-target mediocre average. Work experience: Retail banking throughout my entire undergrad (part-time & full time), One summer internship at an infrastructure asset management firm. Since graduation, I have been working at a self-directed brokerage executing trades for clients.

After doing extensive research on where I see myself in the future, I realized that my interest is peaked when researching real assets. I narrowed down my thoughts and through countless forums and youtube videos, conclude that I would like to work with real estate investments/development. The choice between development and investments is currently unclear to me. I do have a small network of people currently working in the development industry, which I could possibly leverage once I develop the correct skillset.

My year-end goal is to work tirelessly to learn all aspects of real estate finance and investments so I can land a job and begin my career. WSO has been a great tool so far to help me understand what aspects I need to grasp within this industry. I am also fairly efficient with excel and am beginning to learn to financial model.

I am dedicating this year to self-growth and putting all my effort into breaking into this industry, any guidance is greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any resources they can recommend me to use, I thank you in advance.
