MAA

Anyone have any experience working with MAA? Any insight on their reputation in the multi space? Decent sized reit, but I don’t know much about them. Do they do ground up development? If so, is that team separate from their acquisitions team? Strictly multi correct? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

MAA is a publicly traded REIT so I would recommend reading their 10Q as that's going to have a lot of great information. I'm not sure if they are the #1 owner of multi family in the US in terms of NAV, but they are in # of units. The majority of their assets are in the sun belt which across the board has seen a tremendous boom as a result of the pandemic. Not sure if you're asking about working there but I'd imagine as a result of being a pretty large public company there is a lot of red tape in the day to day. Overall, though it's a pretty great company with a stellar reputation.

They do develop and I don’t know for sure but would imagine due to the large public company thing that the roles are pretty rigid so I would guess that the acq teams are separate from the dev teams.
