MBA to leave RE?

Has anyone had any success using an MBA to transition into another industry outside of real estate? I realize that asking in a real estate forum is going to limit my sample, but I figured it was still the best place.

I went into real estate investment at a smaller shop ($300mm) because I liked the idea of having frequent exposure to the partners in the hopes of one day opening my own firm. I spent two years in big 4 audit beforehand, and while I never want to work in accounting again, I honestly miss client service and learning how different companies work. I liked digging into the details of how multinational companies run internally more than I like digging through leases, site analysis, etc.

I actually think I'd be ok being a lifer in consulting or IB (client service with perceived, if not actual, value-add). Would the real estate background limit my recruiting opportunities, or can I truly reset with an MBA? I'd love to hear from someone who went through the process.
