MRED Rec Letter Advice

This is a post I did a few days ago on the Business School Forum, posting here due to no replies

Sup everyone

I'm applying to a few schools for Fall 2019 and wanted to get some feedback on how I could go about asking my current boss for a letter of recommendation. I hope to be able to continue working full-time while studying part-time but the MRED program I am shooting for is quite expensive, and there is a small chance I might have to quit next year and go to a public school.

Also, for Real Estate Development, what are desirable traits I should ask my boss and others to emphasize in the letter? If one of the people I plan on asking is part of a school's board of directors/ trustees and/or faculty, would it be appropriate to ask them for advice in scholarships?
