Negotiating Offer as a lateral
Hey guys,
Got an offer for a role which I'm lateraling over to with 5 years of experience. Been unemployed for a couple of months. This role requires 2-5 years of experience, can you justify you deserve the right-tail of the curve given five years of IB experience (as a lateral)? Or do you scale it back by a year or so? The role is paying slightly lower than what I was making previously - is it wrong to justify X amount given that you made Y previously (if unemployed?). I think they're valuing me as their position equivalent of an analyst with 2 years of experience. Any negotiating tactics for people coming in as a lateral and unemployed for couple of months?
