Negotiating with Principal - Lean Team and Informal

Hey guys any tips from a junior perspective (1.5 years in the industry) negotiating with a principal. It's a sales role at a lean shop with a very informal environment, the person can be aggressive and is very straight forward. How do I best show my skills when they have their mind set on a commission only pay structure and I want a small salary. Role is jack of all trades and good experience, but I realistically cannot do all commission. I did not say I had a problem with it yet because I wanted to get further in the process and have us both invested so at the end they may consider meeting me in the middle. Trying to lay out my skills, be confident, and stick to what I need, but I'm not sure how much value I'm bringing to the table at this stage in my career. It's a sales position for an owner.

Consider draw instead. That may be the middle ground. However, I understand you probably have living expenses to cover. Don’t be afraid to walk away the opportunity. Unless you’re unemployed, stick to your guns and the right opportunity will come along.

I think you're right unfortunately, only issue is if they buy 1-2 deals a year (maybe, may not even buy any certain years from what I've seen publicized and on national databases) then how am I paying the draw back. That's really my concern, it just doesn't make sense. But they have a 1-2 other senior guys (4-5 years min exp) on acquisitions & another focus that are definitely salaried so I'm a little confused (why have some many acquisitions guys if you're not super active).
