Networking Database / Software

As the title states, I wanted to see what software / databases / etc. you guys use for networking, staying on top of & in touch with important relationships.

I'm on the development side and my firm is expanding into new product types, so I am trying to meet and grow relationships with brokers, capital partners, other developers, (and recruiters) that work on those different product types. However, I find it difficult to keep track of all of these relationships - who I spoke with last, when we spoke, what we discussed, when I should follow up, etc.

Has anyone used any good software etc. for this? Seems like almost a CRM type software would be helpful, but I don't really want to buy a Salesforce subscription. I tried to use OneNote for this but I found it somewhat clunky. Excel works somewhat but I'd theoretically like emailed reminders to follow up with folks if it's been too long, etc.
