Networking While Employed - Real Estate Buyside Positions
I currently work in CRE capital markets at a Tier 2/Tier 3 brokerage shop.
I am looking to make the switch into a buyside position, but have not been having much luck cold applying to online posts.
I know networking is the real way that you get positions in this industry. Would it be acceptable to start cold-messaging people at buy-side firms asking to connect? I used to do this in college to get my first position, but I'm not sure on the etiquette since I've been working for 2 years.
Maybe some buyside people can chime in? Do you get many messages from sellside folks looking for opportunities? What grabs your attention?
Thanks all!
