Newmark Strategic Advisory/Investment Banking

They seem to be expanding, I saw they just hired someone from Evercore to launch a GP Stakes service line to sell interests in Real Estate Managers. I know they have been involved in a number of take private situations like ROIC for Blackstone and Apollo-Bridge but assume most of their work is in private markets vs public. My understanding is the group works in concert with the debt and institutional sales business and is overseen by Harmon and Roeschlaub. Couple of questions; 1) is it better (based on deals and staffing) to be on the investment sales, debt or banking team or is it all interchangeable? 2) what type of assignments do they do? 3) who do they compete with - real estate brokerages or investment banks?
