NYU MSRE - Military Vets

Hey all,

I'm in the military and beginning the transition process back into the private sector. I'm planning on applying to NYU's MSRE program for Fall '23 and wanted to know if there are any other vets out there currently in the program or alumni that would be willing to talk and share some advice about applying and how you like the program overall. Thanks ahead of time!

I do not, but as many veterans keep it close to the chest as to not to brag I'm sure there are some industry experts that are. There are a couple Brokers and Broker/Dealers that have REPE buy side that I know of having large coverage within their ranks of veterans. These are Mischler and RBC. I would look for networking in events they are at. I've met a couple Brokers at these firms who really want to help transition military into civilian life. I'm sure if you find their webpage and then look on LinkedIn you'll find a close connection you can reach out to and since NYU is one of the top programs it'll be easy to find a alumni. It will take some digging but no more than a couple hours of research.

PS I believe Mischler is veteran owned and has multiple avenues including MBS and CMBS 2nd market buy and sale side.

Currently in the program, there’s one person who was in the military (not sure if this is correct) and was a mechanic. He let it be known and bragged he worked on some spy plane lol.

There are others that served, I know a few work at Realted. Senior guys like VP+, reach out to them over Linkedin and see if they have any advice.
