NYU MSRED Qualifications
Hey Monkeys,
I was hoping to get some feedback from those of you that have either applied, been accepted to, or know of the NYU MSRED program requirements. I have seen some threads throwing around how they accept a large portion of candidates. I was hoping to get some feedback on what y'all thought my chances were so I could determine if I should apply to a lot more programs to hedge my chances against not getting into a graduate program:
I have been working at a large GSE lender (think Berkadia/Walker&Dunlop) for a little over 1.5 years in a servicing/asset management function (which I don't like and why I want to go back to school), went to BU for Business Administration and received a 3.1 GPA, I am involved in NAIOP and REFA in my region, as well as having 2 real estate internships during school.
Continued education after work with certificate programs at BU and MIT for CRE. Do you think my lack of a solid GPA will be made up for by my clear love for CRE? Thanks for any feedback or advice in advance!
Question on the MIT certificate, is it really $16,000?

Just apply to NYU. You’ll get in as long as you have a pulse. As much as NYUers get butthurt everytime someone says this (count the incoming monkeyshits coming my way) its true....
Still, its a solid program in nyc and will give you a chance to rebrand.
As an NYU MSRED alum, I completely agree with this. NYU’s MSRED is a joke to get into, which is the main reason I decided to do the program in the first place (easy to get into, but is still very well respected). I wouldn’t worry about your gpa, just write a decent essay. IIRC, The prompt is why you want to pursue their MSRED. I wrote about my family’s small real estate dev business and how my dad built it from nothing, which inspired me to want to grow it (this is just what I wrote about. Maybe you have a similar story, maybe not. I’m sure there is a plethora of different essay topics that got accepted)
Also feel free to PM me. I'm also a BU alum. Would be happy to chat.
