Onni Group

I have had some interest in the Vancouver market and have been researching it. I came across this role posted by the Onni Group, but it doesn’t seem to focus on real estate and appears to be more investment-oriented. [Link: https://ca.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=40057f3cbe203f…] Check out this job at Onni Group of Companies: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4104111562 The salary range is listed as $70k-$90k, with a minimum requirement of 3 years of investment banking experience, which seems quite low. It’s a financial analyst position, and they typically hire out of undergrad based on various LinkedIn profiles. I know that companies of a certain size in BC are required to disclose salary ranges on job postings—could they be lowballing the numbers because of this requirement?

Likely not a lowball on salary, that is pretty standard for an analyst in Canada. Can’t comment on Onni specifically, but pretty much every real estate analyst role asks for ib, private equity, consulting, etc. experience but won’t get it because salaries are so much lower.

Edit - link isn’t working and just seeing that you mentioned its not a real estate related role. Ignore the above if that’s the case

Canadian salaries are just not great. Earlier in my career, I wanted to move to Vancouver but the salaries, especially compared to COL there, were laughable.

I work in Vancouver, PM me and I can give you the lowdown on the market/players if you want. That role is more for their PE team than their RE team, but I would stay away from ONNI - one of the biggest developers/owners in Van but very poor rep. given how they treat their staff and trades.

$90K is super low for a role like that, even in Vancouver. Generally, Vancouver roles pay 30-50% less than equivalent ones in Toronto FYI.
For RE specific roles, analysts are generally $75-90K all-in (1-3 years experience), associates would be $80-$120K (3-5 years experience), and then can vary wildly from there. Some shops pay shit whereas others are super generous.
