OPS->Real Estate advice

I've been working in operations for a BB for about a year and 6months now. I honestly don't want to stay in operation anymore. I'm interested in Real estate finance and would like to know if you guys can give some advice on how to break into the industry with no prior real estate experience, but I have a degree in Real Estate.

You may want to revise the question to make it more specific. What sector are you interested in? Development, Asset Management, acquisitions, brokerage? All of these are great careers, but you'll need to take a different approach to each one. Also, you may want to think about asset class. Is multifamily your passion, or do you like office or retail properties?

As general advice, real estate is a relationship business where your degree doesn't count as much as your experience. As an entry level guy, experience won't be an option so you'll have to sell yourself on passion for the field and your ability to work hard and network. As everyone always says, networking is your best bet on breaking into real estate(and any other biz). Set up informational sit downs with people from companies you may want to work for. Ask them what they do, how they got there, what skills/attributes are needed to be successful. You'll be surprised how many responses you'll get from a cold email or linkedin message.
