Potential Career Avenues?

Was hoping to get some inspiration or insight to potential careers options given my non-traditional background. I left the sell-side capital markets business (think heavy financial modeling on industry specific companies) after a couple of years in search of a better work life balance. Ended up in real estate now doing equity origination work for a major BB (underwriting / structuring MF deals) for roughly a year. Pay is sub-par given my lateral, but I'm wondering if there's career avenues that I'm not aware of that'll close the gap and correctly recognize the value in my years of experience. Does REPE or REITs sound like a viable option, given my background? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
