Preparing for investment sales interview
I have an upcoming interview with an investment sales company that focuses mainly on STNL/NNN and expanding to multi-tenant retail shopping centers. I have done a phone interview with them already, now I am meeting with two people from their HQ, then if I make it past that interview I will have an interview with the team. What kind of questions should I prepare to be asked? And I'm considering printing completed Excel spreadsheets I have modeled based off case studies from BIWS and bringing them with me. Should I do this or not? It was one of the talking points in the phone interview and will likely be one during this interview as I do not have any internships in CRE, and this was experienced I gained on my own outside of the classroom.
Hi CodyParkey, any of these topics helpful:
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
If it's a junior position, be likeable, hungry, and eager to learn. Show your interest in real estate and why this particular position.
Any advice for going into an investment sales interview targeting multifamily?
Don't forget to have good questions for them as well.
Company questions Strategy Market sentiment Specifics about the role etc
Be ready for your questions to turn conversational and try to bring value with your insight/thoughts without sounding arrogant.
I’ve been on two separate IS Analyst interviews a couple years back and each company was basically just fit and more conversational/relaxed.
I’ve heard though due to competitiveness, brokergage shops are starting to be more technical in the process to weed out candidates.
Can attest to this. Just had an Argus test for an IS analyst position when in prior IS analyst interviews, it was literally all "how well will you fit in with the team" and "are you a hard worker" and that's it. No tests, assessments, case studies or anything.
Was this for a senior analyst position (how many years experience) and what asset class?
I just had an excel test after a phone interview that would've been easier to do in Argus.
