Pushing Deals Forward - Dev/Acq

There are times where I am consistently following up to try to get things pushed forward specifically with architects, engineers, contractors, etc but I use the method of “politely annoying” them. Sometimes “politely annoying” them doesn’t work. What do you recommend in order to push things forward while wanting to maintain good rapport with your consultants/colleagues?

If you’ve already pinged them a few times and not getting a response, there are l a variety of scripts you can utilize to get them moving:

Blame your boss: “Hey _____, I know I’ve already pinged you a few times but my boss is getting really frustrated with me and I need to get him and answer. Can you please do XX so I don’t get in trouble”.

Call your consultant’s boss: “Hi _____, I’ve been having issues getting timely responses from the team you have staffed on our project and we don’t feel like we are receiving the level of service we are paying for. If the team spread thin on other projects, can you look into freeing someone up to prioritize our project during this phase of work? We can’t have your group lagging behind the rest of the team.”

Blame the lender/tenant: “Hi _____, our lender/tenant needs this information ASAP or we could have a huge financial problem. Please help us get this answer to them. Thank you.”

Send them an RFP for another project you guys have in the works. Incentivizes them to be on their best behavior for the chance to get future work.

Keeping communications polite is important overall, but at a certain point you’ll need to have a firmer stance.
