Real Estate Employee Fund

Is anyone familiar with developers or operators who have profit-sharing funds set up on behalf of employees (with vesting) whereby the fund invests in the developers’ projects? I’m looking more for a fund approach rather than a project-by-project approach. If so, how are these funds set up and what could the structure look like (partnership, trust, EOT, ESOP, real equity or phantom equity). I’m aware there are many legal and accounting obstacles, just looking for precedent and for others experiences.
