Reputation of Kane Realty and other major developers in Raleigh, NC
Hello all,
NC student in undergrad just wondering if anybody knows of the reputation of Kane realty, a development firm based in Raleigh. In addition, if anyone has any insight on the other major developers in Raleigh that would be much appreciated.
Bump
Really fucking good. Not a lot of better shops in Raleigh. Highwoods would be another to look at.
Both of them hire a lot of Carolina folks, not sure about Duke or State.
This, 100%
Really good company, Kane's a billionaire and has some iffy deals in the past but they have huge deal flow in the area and would be a great firm to work for. I know they specifically target people they know though, so I would start networking hard if you really want to work for them.
Thanks. I know they are the largest developers in the area so that confirms my assumptions. Any other Developers based in Raleigh that any of you guys would recommend?
Know this thread is old, but anyone have any updated thoughts on the firm?
Unchanged - "really fucking good". They are best-in-class and getting hired requires good networking.
Appreciate it. On the networking piece - how much do you need? Would it be more like having family ties, or would it be less so?
I wouldn't say you necessarily need family ties, but it helps if you have mutual connections with the team through UNC, etc. Raleigh in general is a small market and everyone in RE knows each other.
Appreciate it. Sounds familiar to the market I'm in, so was just wondering.
Echoing “RFG” reputation of Kane. They’re pretty involved in ULI and some of the other RE groups in the triangle so get involved in those and try to go meet some folks. I believe ULI has a student discount and you’ll meet tons of great folks at those events. Even if you don’t meet someone from Kane at the first event, be chill, personable, and don’t ask for a job the first time you meet them, and those people I’m sure will be know the folks over there or someone at a similar shop they can refer you to.
Highwoods, TCC, TCR, and Northwood Ravin are a couple of other good names. If any of those interest you, I’d try to find an Alum or someone who you have something in common with, and go grab a coffee with them. Even if it’s a cold email, many of those folks are great and I bet would respond and be willing to help. Blue Herron is also an upcoming shop that’d is worth looking into.
