Retail AM internship advice?

I’m applying for a retail AM internship at a large institutional investor. through a HR contact I was able to get my application sent to the hiring manager direct. given that the BIWS Real Estate modding course is my only RE experience I was wanted to highlight it on my resume.

I was wondering what models I should include. what sort of modelling is most relevant to AM (the course has development models, acquisition models, REIT valuation etc.

additionally I was wondering what steps I can take to best position my self to land this job. should I try to reach out to people on the team via linked in or is it too late for that.

thanks

What is your UG field/major? If business/finance related, you may want to highlight accounting and corp fin type skills. Those tend to be pretty valuable to AM. The kind of decisions they make involve leasing, capex, divestment, portfolio mngt, as well as long-term budgeting/planning/forecasting. AM can also support Acq. in review of budgets, proformas, and due diligence at some firms. It's not the most complex from a financial modeling standpoint, but could be very data complex from an excel standpoint (think use of vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).
