RXR - Capital Markets
On Linkedin, I saw a position for RXR - Capital Markets, but I can't find too much about the team and role. Has anyone worked with this team or have information about what they do? Interested to hear about their function.

Pretty sure that is the group in RXR that raises money and manages their various funds and investment vehicles. Overall RXR is a great firm, super highly regarded in NYC. Have several friends there (I think at least one in the Cap Mrks group) all very happy from what I can tell.
Interesting to hear your friends are happy there. To add some color from my perspective, and both may be true, everyone I’ve known that’s worked there (except one person) has left as they found it to be a sweatshop. Coincidentally, the one person I know that remains is in the capital markets group and has been there for quite a bit of time. I’m sure in a place as big as RXR, culture, hours, etc., is group dependent. With that said, great reputation and successful firm.
Same story here. I know tons who have worked there and were miserable (mainly Investments) and pay was not good. They have been more active on the development front the past couple years. I don’t believe they have done a large office acquisition in years.
Overall, they have a good rep in the industry.
This is a new area for me, so excuse my lack of knowledge. But how transferable are these skills? I'm guessing big shops have a separate team that does this, but at smaller firms, who usually does these tasks?
Is this a good role to learn the equity side of real estate?
This is core activity of real estate investment management or private equity fund platform, so I would as universally transferrable as anything else. I'm not all that sure how RXR structures for deal execution but this group would need to be heavily involved in all acquisition/disposition decisions.
I don't know what "role" you are specifically referring to, but I can say that the masses of WSO land would kill for an entry spot with RXR on a team like this (at least those NYC inclined)... I think this would fit the definition of "prestige" for what it's worth.
RXR is very legit (albeit tri-state area self-limited I think, but may have branched out by now), and Scott Rechler is a legit titan of NY real estate (I mean a lot people think he will run for governor at some point). Thus, I think you can safely assume you have options with any legit role at a firm like this.
Really appreciate the insight. I haven't heard much about positions like this, i.e., capital markets where you focus on "fund administration and forecasting, capital raising efforts, as well as the formation of capital structures." So it's interesting to learn about this function in real estate.
I know you said capital markets is a core activity, but would you consider this a, relatively, niche position than acquisitions or asset management? Would this potentially pigeonhole you to this function?

As someone said above it’s much more worth it to join at a senior level unless you have no other options
