Did you ask for more context? I wouldn’t blindly just do the exercise…understand why he wants it and then pivot the ask from your side into something more agreeable
Agreed, lots more context needed.
Do you and your boss get along / has he given you positive reviews in the past?
Is the firm doing well, or are there layoffs / cost cuts happening?
If you have a tough relationship with your boss or the firm is in trouble, then you can probably infer they want to take your equity relationships and get rid of you.
Even if everything is peachy, I would be hesitant about handing over your whole rolodex if you are mid-senior and have valuable relationships with capital.
