San Diego CRE Companies

I'm currently looking for an internship for during the school year in San Diego and would appreciate any recommendations people have on companies in the region. I'm pursuing development in Los Angeles after college, but am open to any types of companies that could provide me with relevant experience.

I understand there are threads about it but am looking for updated information as those threads were years old. Thanks to all!

What exactly do you want to do in multifamily/ mixed use?

It sounds like you don't want to do brokerage (although I would advise you look into that. CBRE in SD seems very strong). It seems like some of the best internships are at the major brokerages because it gives you a springboard into CRE. As with most places, there are always local developers and small funds you can look into as well, although I would defer that to other SD people here.

PacNumber is a successful broker out in SD according to his posts/ comments.

As someone operating in this general area, if you are interested and want to continue your career in LA post college then I would highly recommend applying and networking for internship positions there or even Orange County.

SD has a fairly limited number of positions and large firms so it is fairly competitive and difficult to land one. LA and Orange County have a higher volume of positions with more prestigious companies than SD can offer.

SD employers in particular are good at sniffing out who wants to actually stay in their area. The city heavily influenced by transplants with many who eventually move back to their hometown after spending a couple years here so it will be easier to sell yourself to an LA firm if that’s truly what you want to do long term.
