Set up coffee first, or call first?
So I've gotten in touch with a Director at a firm in the market I want to work in. Simple cold email, asking for advice, etc.
This Director mentioned he would be open to a call or coffee in the next week or two.
My question is, do I try and set a coffee right away or just set up a call? Coffee would require me to drive about an hour, and again this is only the first conversation. But if setting a meeting for coffee would look particularly good for me, I certainly want to make the best impression I can.
I don't know how much of this person's time you plan on taking but probably best to just take the coffee as you can build quite a bit more rapport in person.
Couldn't Agree more. Face time is key
Coffee. You'll have a better chance at building a connection. Also, I'd try and subtly let him know you'll be driving out for it so he doesn't reschedule at the last minute thinking you're in an office building across the street
