Should I leave for Investments/Development opportunity?

Hi,

I'm currently unsure what to do. I'm currently ~8 months out of University working as an Analyst for a large institutional firm in a Portfolio Management position. The overall comp and benefits package is pretty good as it's a large institution and the hours aren't too bad (50-60 hours a week).

However, I want to pivot to Investments/Developments to diversify my experience and build up my skills. I talked to the SVP and he mentioned that this might be possible near the end of the year and into the new year (so 6-8 months). But as this is a large company, things move slowly and internal moves take a great deal of process, so I'm a little skeptical as there are other Analysts/Associates that have expressed similar interests to get more exposure in those areas. The asset classes are diverse with projects of differing scale and structures.

I recently interviewed and got an offer at another Institutional firm (albeit a smaller one) that has a larger presence elsewhere but is starting to branch into the local market. The team is really small and I would be working closely with the SVP on the Investments/Development side, mostly focused on underwriting, running models, scenario analysis, with a small portion of reporting involved. They have a collection of projects, mostly multifamily and/or masterplanned projects, but since the team is getting built out, there is probably a lot more to do and opportunities to distinguish myself. The TC is a little lower overall (~$5K lower).

Currently unsure what to do, since if I can do Investments at my current firm it would be ideal, but with it so far out and this opportunity in hand, it's tempting to take it and distinguish myself as 'the guy' in the region on these projects.
