Know a couple guys that used to work there. It can be a sweatshop and it’s seen as less impressive than actually working for a bank / capital provider underwriting the deals. You’re a step removed from the transaction since lenders outsource the grunt work from their underwriting to you. Would try to work at a lender before going there but it’s not a bad stepping stone
Thanks for that input...definitely got the impression it's less impressive. Stepping stone might not be the worst thing for my situation though. Seen some people on LinkedIn who have moved onto the more "impressive" banks/owner operators after their tenure at Spring11...worth looking into more I suppose.
I think they have a pretty cool staffing platform where you essentially get placed at a bank/other shop as a contract worker and work on specific projects. Definitely a good way to get your foot in the door of those shops if that is end-goal for you.
You could be based in Atlanta and then placed in NY for a few weeks working for JPM. I could be totally misinformed but that is how I interpreted it when I spoke with them at a career festival a few years back.
My company uses them as third party underwriters for some of our deals when the rest of our UW teams have larger loads. Not really any complaints, however UW is no longer my aspect of the business, so I just know that we use them.
I used to work for a lender that outsourced work to Spring11. My thoughts are they’re bright group of young folks. We ended up hiring one of the guy we always work with.
But yes, sweat shop mentality is also true. In this economy, I’d be surprised to see if a quality candidate has to accept a Spring11 role...
