Starting at a Niche Brokerage?

I currently have the opportunity to join an equity/debt brokerage where I previously interned. The pay is pretty standard and I have the option to work remotely, which I would really enjoy the flexibility. The firm is a small shop with less than 10 people that's been around for around 5 years. I have a great relationship with the MD, and would serve as the lead analyst. They mainly work with self-storage, but sometimes get deals across other property types. Learned a ton there as that was my first CRE experience and I think I will get good transaction volume, but I also don't want to get pigeonholed into brokerage/self-storage. Would this be a good place to start my CRE career? Still trying to figure out long term career trajectory, but would like to be on the investing side.
