Stephen Ross, Starting New Firm and Leaving Related
Why would he do this? He founded Related, is he just tired of a much larger company? Seems surprising.

Thanks bro

He probably still owns a large chunk of related. Just moving it to “full professional management.” Anyway - I’m just speculating. At 84 it’s time to hand the rains to the next generation. Especially if living in Florida full time. Build a team to focus on the Florida items where you spend your time.
Yeah says he is keeping his stake and starting his own firm - Related Ross and taking his Palm Beach assets. Currently owns 3mm SF.
Well technically hes the largest owner of Related so him leaving to start another firm might not make too sense. However, I did read he wanted to focus more time on the Miami Dolphins as well. My other take is, he may be the only owner of his new firm, therefore he can do whatever projects he desires
Probably getting a lot of pressure from the next generation of partners and this was a way to do things a bit more gracefully.
Why would he give af about the next generation lol, he does whatever he wants.
Whoever downvoted should look at how he was early on in his career, he told his boss to fuck off in a meeting and was fired in his 30s. He built Related and will do what he wants first.
He’s 84, it’s pretty close to death. This is what you do. Honestly many founders do it sooner
