Switch from boutique to JLL/Newmark/CBRE/Cushman - advice, top city
I have little to no connections at these firms besides 2-3 people I've kept in touch with. There are a lot of alumni from my school on the leasing side, but not on the investment sales side.
Was going to cold email middle market & institutional teams at these firms to get on a call and see if I can pitch myself. Obviously getting intros through the people I know is best, but any advice on a cold email? I was going to say I'm working at a boutique, 1-2 years experience, young willing to work hard, looking to make a switch can we get on a phone and discuss it further. I feel the aggressive forward email will be something a broker would like to see.
Any advice is appreciated.
Be sensitive to COVID times and the fact that many (maybe all) of those big names have laid off people in past 12 months. Timing is everything and if a team is rebuilding, then this could work, if they are struggling, you may get less responses. Clearly, playing the long game is critical.
I wouldn’t worry too much about being sensitive to COVID layoffs - nobody would expect you to know what’s going on internally. It’s also team dependent so some teams may be shrinking / growing within the same office. I’d say start sending the emails and try to get on the phone with them to learn if there’s any opportunities
