Was looking at a position at Trammell Crow Residential and was wondering if the company still had the same reputation and clout it did post-2008. Will having them on my resume still open up opportunities at other development firms in other asset classes if I choose to leave at any pojnt during my career. I was just wondering because I wasn’t sure if they were still held in the same regard as they were 10+ years ago.
Also do they still have the same entrepreneurial culture they had in their glory days or are the roles there more siloed I.e. employees don’t get exposed to the entire development process.
in addition, what salary range do they usually pay starting analysts and associates if any knows.

TCR is still a household name in CRE development and any other shop will look at them positively on your resume. They're consistently developing great projects in almost every major MSA. I've seen guys move on from TCR to both large and small shops as directors where they can own the project from start to finish. I've also seen small shops started by TCR alums. Their residential arm seems to have the largest pipeline going forward. I can't speak to their comp structure or culture but the teams I've interacted with all seem like they enjoy what they're doing.

Anyone else have experience seeing alum from tcr in the past few years going off and starting their own shops like happened back in the 90s?
Don't confuse the "original" Trammell Crow from the 90's (of which the operating components were sold to CBRE) for entrepreneurial opportunities with TRC or Crow Holdings today. From what I heard getting hired by Trammell Crow in the 80's was like getting hired at an early-stage Google. That said, TRC / Crow Holdings on your resume will open doors if you have a reasonable amount of tenure, they are highly thought of in the industry. It's for a reason, especially in Dallas as it's a terrific environment, demanding yet very congenial and supportive, and you'll get some immediate exposure to deals. Traditionally they preferred starting hires from specific schools (look at profiles) with family money. I've been told this has evolved but if you have either of these it's worth hiring. Make sure you know their portfolio, funds, and current developments when you interview.
TCR is a great MF firm. Your experience may vary by location, since much of your experience will be personnel-driven. As far as exit opps goes, everyone knows TCR.
As an aside, if you ever have a chance to visit Crow Holding's Old Parkland campus in Dallas, jump on it.
