Based on the WSO Dataset, while there isn't a direct mention of specific textbooks used in graduate schools for hotel investment or analysis classes, we can infer from the context that a strong foundation in real estate, financial analysis, and investment principles is crucial. For someone looking to learn about hotel investment and development, focusing on real estate finance, development, and deals analysis would be beneficial. Although not explicitly listed, textbooks and materials covering these areas would likely be part of a curriculum focused on hotel investment.
To build a comprehensive understanding, consider exploring materials that cover:
Real Estate Finance and Investments: Understanding the financial aspects of real estate investment, including hotels, is crucial. Look for textbooks that delve into financing methods, investment analysis, and the economic factors influencing the real estate market.
Hotel Operations and Management: Since hotels are operations-intensive assets, as highlighted in the context, gaining insights into the operational side of hotels, including service levels and cost management, would be valuable.
Development and Feasibility Studies: Books focusing on real estate development, with a particular emphasis on conducting feasibility studies, can provide insights into evaluating potential hotel projects.
Case Studies on Hotel Investments: While not a textbook, exploring case studies of successful hotel investments and developments can offer practical insights and lessons learned.
Financial Modeling for Real Estate: Developing skills in financial modeling specific to real estate and hotel investments is essential. Look for resources that include Excel modeling, DCF, and valuation techniques tailored to the hospitality sector.
Although not specified in the context, considering the importance of understanding the unique aspects of hotel investments, such as operations, market analysis, and financial modeling, these areas of focus can guide your search for relevant academic materials and textbooks.

Hey I took a Hotel Development & Investment class in graduate school and used the following books:
1. Hotel and Resorts - An Investors's Guide by David Harper
2. Hotel Design, Planning and Development (2nd edition) - Richard Penner, Lawrence Adams, Stephani K.A. Robson
Thank you!
oh wow
Question - Was your grad program hotel focused? If so, which program would you suggest?
No - not hotel focused. I went to a NYC based MSRED program. There was a class or 2 on hotels but definitely not the emphasis of the program. Can't speak to what program might be best if you are interested in hotel development/investment. I could imagine Cornell's Baker program could be good because of Cornell's hospitality school.
