Thinking of Leaving Real Estate Investments to Start a PropTech – Career Risk?
I’m currently in an institutional real estate investments role and have been in the industry for several years.
I’m in the process of validating a proptech concept that I believe solves a real pain point in the market and have received some encouraging early feedback. I’m now debating whether to pursue it full-time.
Main things I’d like advice on: 1. If I step away from my current role to launch this and it doesn’t work out in 1–2 years, how realistic is it to return to institutional real estate at a similar level? Would my time as a founder be seen positively, neutrally, or negatively? 2. For those who’ve started a real estate tech company, what’s one thing you wish you knew before you began?
Looking for a realistic take on the career trade-offs and best first steps before making the leap.
