Thoughts About Starting CRE Broker Journey at Horvath & Tremblay or CBRE?
I worked previously in corporate sustainability with some conglomerates with an asset management arm and took a career pivot into executive coaching in the last seven years.
For the next 15-20 years, I am challenging myself to think bigger by getting into CRE. Right now, I have some upcoming conversations with Horvath & Tremblay and CBRE.
What are your thoughts?
Usually it's all team dependent and market dependent, but between those two, could also be product line dependent. From my experience, H&R is usually Net Leased/Retail Investment sales and CBRE could be anything. Would need more info on both opportunities.
I would pursue the role that provides the best deal experience that aligns with your future goals. It’s less about the name on the door and more about the senior brokers you’re working for and the types of deals you’re involved with. You can then spend a few years with that team and then strategically recruit elsewhere based on your goals. Again, the conversation in interviews at that point won’t be about where you worked, it’ll be about what you did there.
