Aaron Appel and his team at W&D are massive in NYC. Have not had good interactions with Aaron and think it would suck to work for him but their success is undeniable.

Would probably expect IB level hours with IB level comp except your guaranteed portion is going to be a lot smaller. A good bit of comp will be through bonuses or deal tips.

Yeah i heard from an analyst on one of these teams. Hours from 9am-10:30/12. Thursdays can leave 7:30 and they grab a beer. Summers a little less busy. Didn’t give comp number though.

For Newmark base is around 100k for an analyst. Unsure of the bonus but should be pretty good. Hours are IB level. Great group of juniors to work with that seem to all get along. Source: I used to work at Newmark. Sat with them in the bullpen but was not on their team.

Newmark is the top debt business, they’re diversified across asset classes. Roeschlaub leads the business and is based in NYC so that helps. They seem to be adding people nationally.

Eastdil is the next best, based on deals they do and clients represented. The best debt guy there is Mike VK, who is also the firm president.

Walker Dunlop is viable for scrappier private client business, institutional clients tend to veer away from Appel. That said they’re productive and do a lot of volume.

CBRE has the old Deutche Bank debt originator, Trainor that does some sizable business off and on. They also have number of private client folks that came from Meridian in the last year, not sure how productive they have been. CBRE also has a well regarded loan sales team helmed by Arrangio.

JLL team pops up from time to time they seem to have a number of brokers vs a big team.

Cushman Wakefield lost a lot of business when their investment sales team exited.

Meridian seems to have wound down.
