Trying to renegotiate salary after accepting - how bad of an idea is it?
Hi all,I recently accepted an offer and am fine with the comp, but have now realized that I probably could have squeezed some extra $ had I tried. Is it a bad idea to call and ask respectfully (given that it's a HCOL city)? Only saying this because I believe what I was offered is in line with their LCOL city comp.Obviously I don't have much leverage, but could be worth a try. Just don't want to cause any unnecessary tension. Would appreciate any thoughts!
why didn't you ask during negotiations? accepting an offer then negotiating after is a bad look. focus on killing your first year then ask for a raise
There could still be some room if you haven't signed the offer letter yet. But if it's already done - comp renegotiation will bring losses than benefits.
Don’t renegotiate. Focus on having a good year to make it an easier negotiation at next review. Speak to recruiters ahead of review to work out what your worth and negotiate for that.
Know someone who renegotiated prior to signing the offer, then signed, and then tried negotiating higher again. Then the company pulled the offer. Don’t be a dingleberry
