Verbal offer but want different position with other company
I've been interviewing with a company the past month or so and they reached out to me about a verbal offer. They expect to send an official on sometime this week.I prefer a position with a different company I've been interviewing. Should I reach out to them and let them know about my offer?
Definitely, and be honest, just say you have a verbal offer with another company but that you guys are still my first choice. You don’t need to ask them to rush you through the process but you can say “I was wondering what the expected timeline might look like so I can best address this offer while preserving my candidacy with the firm”. If they are serious about you they will expedite your application or at least give you a timeline so you can ask for a deadline extension on your offer. As long as you don’t sound like your flexing your offer it will only help you and make you look more desirable.
What if I were to accept the offer and if I get another offer, rescind my acceptance?
