Wells Fargo CRE

Anyone have insight how comp scales within the CRE vertical? I know it is within the CIB, but from my understanding it is not compensated the same as the coverage groups within the corporate bank. Interested in groups such as REB, CLI, and MFC. Would like to understand VP+ comp.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, compensation within Wells Fargo's CRE vertical, including groups like REB (Real Estate Banking), CLI (Commercial Loan Integration), and MFC (Multifamily Capital), is generally not on par with the coverage groups within the corporate bank. While specific VP+ compensation details for these CRE groups aren't explicitly outlined, it's important to note that CRE roles often have a different pay structure compared to traditional corporate banking or investment banking roles.

For reference, within Wells Fargo's broader CIB (Corporate and Investment Banking), VP compensation averages around $392K, and Associate compensation averages $260K as of September 2023. However, CRE roles may see lower base salaries and bonuses compared to these figures, reflecting the differences in revenue generation and deal structures typical of the CRE space.

I work at WF but in the CB. How often would you say senior associate and above roles open up on the REB/MFC teams? I've hardly seen anything when I search for roles on Workday.

We don’t have senior associates, just associates or VP and up. Roles will open like once a year or whenever someone leaves.

This is helpful. $175k is NYC or no differential? And I know you noted stock options, but do you have a ball park figure of cash bonus vs stock bonus on average for each year? Thanks.

It’s the same across all offices. Sorry no idea on the bonus piece :/

A bit off topic but does anyone know what total comp and exit opps look like for Analysts in REB, CLI, MFC, etc.? And how possible is it to transfer internally to teams within CRE or IB?

Analyst is 100, up to 110 for groups closely tied to fee income from CMBS or syndications (RESCM/RFG). Laterals happen.
