What percent of your friend group is outside the industry?
title says it all. just curious cause sometimes i feel like i'm having too much talk of shop with friends or colleagues in the industry so often.

F...fri...friends?
Whats that?
I spend all my free time studying Jonathan Gray.
What clothes he wears. What brand his glasses are. What kind of water he drinks. Does he like still water or carbonated? The way he speaks.
I am currently monitoring 3 women (they don't know yet) who could potentially be my version of Mindy Basser Gray
I've been patiently waiting for Jonathan to drop his ranking of the most prestigious RE shops
Similar to above, I have no friends
I'm the opposite. I don't have a single good friend that works in RE except one family member. All of my friends went in finance, tech or sales. I wish I had a good friend or two to talk RE with or to have a couple drinks with at happy hours or events
Same and they all make a lot more than me :(
what do you do? and what do they do? just curious
Same. I'm happy with my job, but it really makes me wish I went a different route sometimes
99%. I like to keep my job away from my personal life
My entire crew is outside of real estate. There is a friend of a friend I've gotten closer with over the years who is also in CRE and we talk shop occasionally, but otherwise that's it.
Do your hours ever make it hard to have plans with those friends? Sometimes i feel like it's hard to meet up with friends who aren't in the industry and have schedules that are less influenced by the market.
I don't really have a tough time scheduling, my hours are pretty clearly defined, I get in around 8:30 and leave at 6:20 to make my train. Occasionally I'll have to pull out my laptop when I get home but not often, and I can usually avoid it if I'm diligent at work. Plus I almost never work on the weekends.
Over the years a lot of industry friends have become some of my closest friends. So of a proportion of my overall friends pretty low, but as a proportion of friends I consider close and spend the most time with, pretty high.
who fucking cares
