What to focus on: REIT Development to REPE?

I’m looking to make the jump from REIT Development - is it feasible?

Development is great; I like it. It’s an awesome learning experience. Realistically though, I have goals of higher comp. I like real estate but I want a bit more finance in my daily routine. Development doesn’t offer a whole lot of that.

Currently as a first year analyst I’m at $77k + 10-15% bonus.

I’ve been here since December after I graduated.

When should I start going through the recruiting process?

Has anyone made this transition successfully and willing to share more details?
