Why are my emails being ignored?
So I had a great interview a couple weeks back for an internship and they said they’d be glad to bring me on for this summer and my interviewer said he’d follow up with updates but that was supposed to be last week and he hasn’t given me updates or responded to my emails. I’m assuming I either didn’t get the internship, even though they hinted I probably would or this is some weird test lmao. How should I approach this?
If you have already followed up via email I would give him a call and just ask politely whether there is anything you can do to help them. If there was indeed a rejection they should've said so via email.
It's Tuesday, chill out. This is not some "weird test". The guy either doesn't have an answer for you yet or is busy with other stuff. I assure you that you are not at the top of his list of priorities.
I agree with this comment - OP give them some breathing room. Things move slower in the real world.
We hire an intern every year and the mid-level and senior people actually need to be reminded who we hired before the internship starts. It’s just so low priority
This is normal with interviews and job. Interviewing and job offers are a crap shoot. You may have gotten the job, you may not have. Just because he said we would love to have you onboard unfortunately, doesn't mean you actually received the offer (or will receive it). The deal isn't done until you get a piece of paper stating your offer. This sadly happens all the time where employees jump the gun way too fast and than have to backtrack. I would sit tight and follow up via email in a week. It is extremely rude that the employer didn't answer you saying either yes / no / we are still working things on my end. The employer just might not have had an update for you. Next week, I would shoot an email out. And if they still don't answer, you can follow up via a phone call the week after. However, if they don't answer after two follow ups and you hear nothing, that's generally a sign you didn't get it. This happens way too often in recruiting and it is just an unfortunate reality of the situation.
The only reason I’m worried is he said he’d have answer for me last Tuesday and just never gave me one, I followed up but no response and then I followed up again yesterday and no response from him. I get I’m low priority but I thought I’d get a rejection email, especially since we got along well when we spoke.
