“Bad” Online Reputation

I filed a labor complaint against a former employer (FAANG) because of some egregious HR behavior. During the investigation, this company dragged my name into national media and their lawyers made some nasty remarks about my character.

Fast forward: they lost every instance and the public materials that the federal investigation uncovered have proven me right 100%. I’m currently in negotiations with their legal team about damages.

However, the news articles with the firm’s libelous quotes still come up when you google my name. I have no ongoing legal proceedings in my name, every sane HR professional would agree how screwed up that firm’s behavior was and anyone can publicly access my entire complaint.

How should I handle this going forward when it comes to new employers, HR, background checks etc.?
